Following modern lines, Asus engineers provided wide opportunities for this development in the field of mobile technologies. Besides Atheros AR8132 network controler, there is a built in WLAN unit Broadcom with support of the newest 802.11n protocol. Besides, the advanced Bluetooth 3.0 unit providing a high speed data interchange between computer and a mobile device is used. Eee PC 1018P, as well as its younger brother Asus 1015P, is equipped with aslot for a SIM card which is not used: it is not known, when there will be devices like 1018PM/1018BM with built in UMTS unit, and whether they will appear in general.
The slot for a SIM card doesn't find applications yet.

I studied a lot of information about this netbook. It is easy typing and fast with great screen and it is equipped with 3.0 USB ports. I saw this model at BestBuy, it was sold for about $50 less than online, but the processor was slower and there were only 2.0 USB ports. So it is better to pay some extra money and get the product as it was designed by Asus and not the compromise of BestBuy. The life of battery is 7 hours. To patch the Windows 7 Starter edition you need to load the ASUS utility from their website, so you can add wallpaper. The amount of bloatWare is small. It will take you about 3 hours to get the computer configured. You will need to update the OS and other software. This netbook is as close as possible to a real laptop. I recommend this netbook highly. And I bought additional 2GB memory module for only $24.
